The Pit Catering was founded over a decade ago by Michael Berube and his son, Brad Berube. Together, they built a well-known BBQ restaurant in Lewiston, Maine, earning a reputation as a local staple for authentic, slow-smoked barbecue. As demand for their food continued to grow, they made the strategic decision to close the restaurant and focus exclusively on catering—allowing them to bring The Pit’s signature BBQ to events throughout Maine.

Michael brings more than 30 years of experience in the food industry and a deep respect for traditional barbecue methods. For over 10 years, he has perfected the art of smoking with charcoal and wood in The Pit’s smokers. His attention to fire control, smoke balance, and technique is the foundation behind the bold, authentic flavors The Pit is known for.

Brad has been involved in the business for over a decade, beginning in the kitchen during the restaurant’s early years and working side by side with his father. Through hands-on experience, he learned every aspect of the operation and helped refine the menu and processes. Today, Brad leads The Pit Catering, continuing its commitment to quality and consistency while still relying on Michael’s experience and culinary guidance.
